Learn More About Shoreline AND Video Tour Our Campus!The Associate Dean of Nursing provides leadership and direction in the development, administration, and management of the Nursing and Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) Program Programs (ACEN 1.8). They are responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating all the programs to ensure excellence and achieve program outcomes and strategic goals. Essential Job Duties: Assures Program Development and ExcellenceFacilitates development of long-range goals and objectives for the nursing program. Uses assessment and evaluation strategies to maintain accreditation standards, regulatory standards in RCWs and WACS, American Nurses Association professional nursing standards, and The Joint Commission (TJC) safety standards. Facilitates recruitment, screening, and appointment of new nursing faculty based on required educational qualifications and experience consistent with college policies, contract, and regulatory standards Orients and mentors faculty for their educator role and areas of responsibility and facilitates ongoing development Facilitates faculty development and performance review for full-time and part-time faculty consistent with College policy, contract, and standards of professional nursing practice. (WAC 246-840-517 (4c)) Establishes partnerships with communities of interest and professional organizations to promote excellence, enhance the profession, and benefit the community Facilitates recruitment, selection, and advisement of students. (WAC 246-840-517 (4g) Maintains student educational records in compliance with college policy and state and federal guidelines including complaints/grievances, interruptions, medication errors/near misses, exposures.Collaborates with students, faculty and administrators to maintain program standards and accreditation standards. Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, incorporating evidence-based standards of nursing practice.Develops quarterly schedules and room assignments in coordination with Division Secretary. Prepares and administers the program budget with faculty input.Monitors and recommends spending from the Shoreline Foundation nursing funds for scholarships, emergency funds, and professional faculty development.Coordinates faculty assignments and workload. QualificationsRequired Education & Experience: Master’s degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution Preparation in education OR two years of teaching experience in nursing education Experience in curriculum development, administration, program development and evaluation Five years of relevant experience as a RN including two years of experience in nursing education Current knowledge of nursing practice at the associate degree program level and scope of ADN graduates Experience with computer systems and clinical simulation related to teaching and clinical nursing practice Licenses:Active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Washington State or ability to obtain before employment begins.Knowledge of: Applicable laws, rules, ordinances and regulations including, but not limited to, RCW, WAC, and ACEN standardsMicrosoft Office applications such as Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word programsTechniques for effective presentations and communication in a multicultural environmentSkill in: Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsivenessHandling stressful or adverse situations, working well under pressure, helping to calm situations and individuals. Conditions of EmploymentPhysical Work Environment:The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs. If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means. This position also works weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed is required. Terms Of Employment/Salary: This is a full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position with initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experience.
