We offer a culture of serving with love and compassion, a faith-based mission and a commitment to excellence and innovation.JOB SUMMARY:Provides residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with established Holland Home policy and procedures and as may be directed by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, DON, or Director of Residential Services.PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene as identified in the plan of care/care guide.Observes and maintains accurate record of resident’s physical and mental condition; reports any unusual signs or changes in resident’s condition or behavior, accidents, and/or injuries to appropriate nursing personnel.Assists residents at meal and snack time. Duties include distributing food trays, snacks, and juices, feeding or assisting residents feed themselves.Assists residents with ambulating, transferring, positioning, and range of motion exercises.Answers call lights and responds to residents’ requests for assistance.Assists with maintaining a clean, neat and safe environment for the residents.Participates in staff meetings, training, and in-service programs.Builds and maintains trusting relationships with residents and their families; provides emotional support as needed.Performs resident care in a compassionate manner in accordance with the mission and values of Holland Home.Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.Understands resident rights and incorporates them into daily practices.Supports and models by conduct the Holland Home Code of Conduct to residents, employees and public.Meets Holland Home’s standards for confidentiality.Utilizes the Positive Approach to Care™ methodology in accordance with the mission and values of Holland Home.OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in the orientation of newly hired CNA’s.Transports residents to meals, appointments and various activities and programs within the building.Assists Charge Nurse with specimen collection, obtaining vital signs, obtaining residents’ height and weight and other duties as needed.Follows guidelines related to infection control and exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids.Reports promptly all safety concerns including malfunctioning equipment.Provides after-death resident care as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a general high school diploma or equivalent plus completion of a state-approved nursing aide training program.Experience working with the elderly is desirable.Current Michigan CNA certification is required.Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aide is required if working in Care ResourcesPACE.Adhere to the training and regulations required by the Adult Foster Care Licensure including but not limited to CPR certification if working for Breton Extended Care.SPECIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Ability to work with elderly residents who may at times be ill, disabled, confused, hostile and/or emotionally upset.Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, residents and their families in situations requiring courtesy, tact, respect and patience.Written skills necessary to maintain required documentation.Ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language.Ability to meet Holland Home’s standards for attendance.Ability to meet the general health requirements as set forth by the polices of Holland Home, which includes a physical examination and TB testing.MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Pressures related to completing required documentation in a timely manner and dealing with the concerns and emotional needs of residents and their families.Ability to transfer/ lift/ turn/position/assist residents, reach/stoop/bend/kneel/crouch, and utilize the equipment and devices necessary in providing prescribed care to residents.Regular exposure to physical fatigue due to continuous walking and standing.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal resident care environment with minimal exposure to infectious conditions and communicable diseases when using standard precaution methods.May be required to work alternate shifts including weekend and/or holiday hours.
