Role Profile:We are looking for aCommunity Development Managerto increase Penny AppealUSA’s profile and revenue. The Community Development Manager will lead theengagement of community relationships nationally to meet the goals of theDevelopment Department and the organization. Through a purpose-driven and strategiceffort, this role will establish a strong team and presence across the United States. Thisposition will report to the Director ofDevelopment.
Key Responsibilities1. Increase awareness about Penny Appeal USA and raise funds throughcommunity engagement efforts nationally2. Establish and lead a community outreach plan to effectively engage diversecommunities and meet above goals3. As resources allow, build hubs nationwide and lead team members that focus onoutreach, events, volunteer engagement and other focus areas as needed4. Meet fundraising goals and increase income from individuals and organizations5. Engage and build partnerships with key community stakeholders and leadershipsuch as mosques, boards, imams, cultural institutions, MSA’s/youth groups,foundations, and others6. Build a strong volunteer program to engage community members for events andfundraising initiatives7. Plan and lead various fundraising and outreach events (dinners, comedy tours,concerts, conventions, etc.)8. Develop and execute benchmarks in relation to number of engagements and thefundraising goals8. Educate donors, volunteers, and general public about the people, countries, andcommunities our programs serve9. Represent the organization at meetings, delivering presentations as needed10. Engage with Development team members and other departments forcollaboration11. Perform other duties as neededQualifications
Undergraduate degree preferred
Ability to empathize and connect with community members, leaders, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds
Strong leadership, communication, self-management, and project management skills
Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks within tight deadlines
Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends as needed; must have access to personal transportation
Strong ability to present information in a respectful, persuasive, and tactful manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail
Familiarity with the American Muslim community
Comfortable and excelling in public speaking to various audiences
Comfortable using and learning CRMs and other tools as needed
