To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description What You’ll Be DoingThe Director for Global Investment Banking – Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition will work with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors, Associates and Analysts to expand CIBC Global Investment Banking’s presence in the Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition sectors in the US. The Director will be focused on the Climate Technology space and will lead the execution of mandates including both capital raises and M&A transactions through analytical financial structuring, oversight over developing detailed financial models, and conducting research along with other senior professionals in the group. EIT manages a market leading platform from our offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and London.The Energy Transition & Climate Technology team’s coverage mandate includes carbon capture, utilization & storage, low carbon fuels, energy storage, hydrogen, energy efficiency, and distributed energy resources as core target technology segments.How You’ll SucceedLead the execution of Climate Technology sector advisory and financing mandatesAct as the central point of contact between the deal team and client team members throughout transaction executionConduct client meetings alongside other CIBC team membersLead and oversee financial modeling and analyses and provide corresponding recommendations to internal and client stakeholdersConduct deal related due diligence activities and present findings internally as well as directly to the clientWork with outside working group members including legal advisors, tax & accounting advisors, technical advisors, market/demand advisors, insurance advisors, auditors, etc.Maintain responsibility for the overall information and communication flow on deal teamsDevelop and maintain a thorough understanding of our clients’ businesses, investment portfolios and industry to assist in the identification and analysis of investment banking opportunitiesDevelop and maintain a thorough understanding of the relevant investors in the Climate Technology sector and contribute to relationship building with themShare material developments in the Climate Technology industry and policy with relevant team membersIdentify and anticipate our clients’ needs and provide excellent client service through coverage and transaction executionCoordinate and contribute to client-focused and deal-focused “brainstorming” sessions with relevant team membersLiaise with other units of CIBC Capital Markets in preparing proposals for clientsActively manage and mentor the Associates and Analysts in the Energy, Infrastructure and Transition Investment Banking team and provide regular coaching, teaching, and feedbackEnsure that recommendations and opinions offered to clients are in compliance with legislationAt all times maintain the professional standards and policies of CIBCWho You Are You can demonstrate experience with: 5-8 years of previous investment banking experience required with a completion of an MBA and/or CFA preferredDemonstrated transaction execution experience involving equity capital raises for private companiesKnowledge of and passion for the Energy, Infrastructure, Transition & Climate Technology sectorsDetailed knowledge of the various sources of capital and their respective investor/buyer bases focused on the Energy, Infrastructure, Transition & Climate Technology sectorsWell-developed analytical and modeling skills evidenced by an ability to define what drives outcomes, to surface potential alternative hypotheses and to test alternatives using insightful analysisProven ability to pay close attention to detail and multi-task under tight deadlinesExtremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations and a proven ability to contribute to high performance teams.
