The Director will provide strategic, operational, and legal mentorship regarding Micron’s export and import trade compliance program, including adherence to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) regulations and programs, economic and trade sanctions programs, Trade Agreement Act (TAA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, other applicable import/export laws and regulations in countries where Micron has operations. The Director will partner with Micron’s Legal Operations team to build out automation and data analytics to enhance the trade compliance program.Role Description:Reporting to the VP of Compliance & Ethics, you will partner with leaders across the Company to provide mentorship on trade compliance regulations and operations, enabling the business to navigate sophisticated international regulatory landscapes in a pragmatic way.Drive the creation and maintenance of trade compliance policies & guidelines.Provide guidance and advice to ensure Micron and its subsidiaries, affiliates, and partners comply fully with all applicable trade laws and regulations, including the EAR, OFAC, and other sanctions programs, TAA, CBP, and other U.S. and international regulations.Advise and lead on drafting strategic export licenses and other regulatory filings.Advise the development of the trade compliance program’s continuous improvement activities, including compliance assurance and risk assessment programs.Supervise legal, regulatory, and trade developments that impact Micron’s business and deliver clear and timely legal guidance to mitigate impacts.Direct, develop, and implement risk-based trade compliance trainings and communications.Collaborate with various business functions (including colleagues in Legal, Finance/Tax, HR, Internal Audit, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales, and Corporate Strategy) to understand their business priorities and build integrated upstream and forward-looking trade compliance processes.Own the development of trade compliance roadmap and strategic planning; andPromote a business culture of trade compliance and ethics and conduct other compliance activities, including benchmarking, as appropriate.Background Qualifications5+ years of in-house experience as a trade professional12+ years of practice in a law firm/accounting firm or similar or as an in-house attorney combined, with trade focus.J.D. or accounting degree equivalent degree from an accredited professional schoolLicensed to practice law in the United States preferred (California or Washington D.C.) but will consider professionals with significant sophisticated trade experience at semiconductor companies.Required ExperienceHands-on experience in building and owning an international trade compliance function in a multinational company.Strategic inspiring leader with an eye for business and sound judgment.Strong presentation skills with proven track record of thought leadership.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to distill sophisticated legal concepts into simple terms easily digestible by business.Deep expertise in U.S. export controls and sanctions regulations.Excellent legal research and writing skills.Experience in working, handling, and driving multi-functional projects to completion.Flexible, hardworking, extraordinary teammate and motivator with strong interpersonal skills, and dedicated servant leader in developing teams.Bias for action.Creative.Trust-builder.Resilient and able to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs.Attention to detail, critical thinking, and excellent problem-solving.Experience aligning with government affairs function.The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:$208,000.00 – $370,000.00Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
