The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.SCOPE OF POSITION: The Director of Business will give oversight for the day-to-day general business andadministrative operations of The Salvation Army Seattle Social Services and will coordinate businessactivities throughout Seattle Social Services in an efficient, consistent manner.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:* Business Degree in Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Business Administrationrequired.* Minimum five years of experience in business development, planning, management anddeveloping and administering budgets for non-profit programs.* Minimum of two years of experience supervising and managing a multifaceted professionalstaff.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED* Strong organizational problem-solving skills and Ability to discern important information iscrucial.* Ability to creatively problem solve and maintain a high degree of confidentiality is desirable.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.* Knowledge of, and familiarity with, budget planning and accessing implementation of operationbudget* Provide a valid Driver’s License and insured transportation.* Must be organized, self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented.SCOPE OF POSITION:The Director of Business & Operations will provide oversight for the day-to-day general business andfacility operations of The Salvation Army Seattle Social Services Corps and will coordinate business andfacility activities throughout Seattle Social Services in an efficient, consistent manner.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Supervise each section of the Administration Department (Human Resources, Finance,Contracts, and Janitorial and Maintenance).* Advise senior management on matters such as strategic planning, human resources, and riskmanagement.* Oversee and lead human resources activities such as hiring and training employees,performance management for Corps employees, administering employee benefits programs,and overseeing safety and security. measures, including the Territorial safety requirments.* Work with all department supervisors in the administration of personnel management.* Maintain staffing charts and authorized staffing information.* Work with managers to mitigate / improve staffing challenges and opportunities.* Coordinate with other departments and Divisional Headquarters to ensure that all operationsrun smoothly and according to schedule.* Ensure that each Administration Department section has a current procedure outline andmanual for their position.* Supervise, train, and evaluate all personnel of the Administration Department* Oversee staff scheduling to ensure appropriate levels.* In coordination with Finance Manager develop and implement budgets.* In coordination with Director of Maintenance and Operations ensure the implementation offacility safety.* Meet regularly with the Officer/Director of Seattle Social Services, Directors, and Managers toparticipate in setting priorities within each program and to coordinate recommendations forrepairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment.* Evaluate and direct program/business to ensure compliance with Salvation Army policy and theNorthwest Division mission and to optimize financial and service performance.* Capital projects administration.* Assist the Finance Manager with the process of accumulating and preparing financialstatements, service and activity statistics as required by The Salvation Army reportingprocedures.* Assist the Director and Business Manager with all matters relating to Finance, including budgets,requisitions, proposals for purchase, property proposals and other matters needing approval ofthe Command Finance Council (CFC). Be available to give answers about expenditures and otherfiscal related matters concerning the business aspects of the Center.* Meet regularly with the Officer/Director of Seattle Social Services, Directors and Managers toparticipate in setting priorities within each program and to coordinate recommendations forrepairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment.* Analyzing financial data and developing recommendations for improving profitability* Creating budgets and managing expenses to ensure that costs do not exceed income.* Ensuring that the company complies with state and federal laws and regulations affectingbusiness operations.* Represent The Salvation Army in community collaborative groups as assigned by theOfficer/Director of Seattle Social Services* Maintain clear channels of communication with the Officer/Director, other directors, supportstaff and necessary personnel and program participants. This will include the writing of internalmemos, emails, schedules and calendars, flyers, newsletters and one-on-one discussions.* Regularly assess the performance of team members including annual performance evaluationsand use of Territorial human resources policies.* Attend all scheduled staff meetings and management team meetings.* Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures* Perform other assignments/duties as directed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* Must be at least 21 years old.* Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuousbasis.* Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.* Ability to operate telephone.* Ability to operate a computer.* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
