We work in changing, ambiguous environments, so we embrace nuance, inclusivity, and complexity to deliver programs that work for the diverse groups of individuals who rely on us.About the role:The Director, Civic Tech BD and Strategy will support the VP of Civic Tech and our Client Solutions team to build new client relationships, expanding the Civic Tech practice. This role will be responsible for nurturing existing client and partner relationships while simultaneously finding ways to expand our work. This person will be responsible for identifying opportunities to drive revenue and building and maintaining strategic partnerships with key clients and partner organizations. The ideal candidate has a strong ability to link strategic agency priorities (i.e. new legislation or administration priorities) to BlueLabs capabilities and to specific procurement opportunities. This person will have built a professional network that respects their strategy skills, problem solving, communication, reliability, and ability to move seamlessly between technical and program focused individuals. In this position you will:Support the VP of Civic Tech in the creation and execution of the Civic Tech practice’s strategic direction and program offerings Develop and implement business development strategies in collaboration with the VP of Civic Tech and our Client Solutions team to drive revenue and generate a healthy sales pipelineApply your expertise to bring forward solutions that meaningfully improve citizen’s experience as they access essential services, and to improve government employee experiences as they support their agency’s goalsBuild internal capacity by mentoring delivery team members in the proposal development process, assigning proposal sections to team members, and providing concrete feedbackBuild excitement for growth within the company by highlighting upcoming opportunities and hearing from team members about work they’d like for us to be contributing toContribute to overall Civic Tech growth strategy, which includes proposal development but also creation of new capabilities, marketing, and positioning of our company within the ecosystem Target, cultivate, and manage relationships with clients and partner organizations.Partner with the Director of Civic Tech, Programs to maintain awareness of program, project statuses, and client satisfaction and leverage BlueLabs’ talent to drive growth Identify opportunities to expand the Civic Tech practice’s current book of work and pilot approaches to attract new and diverse client groupsEngage regularly with BlueLabs leadership to identify and align on prioritized opportunities. Build and maintain activity and performance reports to provide leadership visibility into sales pipelineProject manage and serve as the primary internal point of contact for all proposals, teaming agreements, and other efforts to win new work within the Civic Tech practiceWhat we are seeking:6-8+ years of business development experience in the consulting, technology, and/or healthcare industries. Experience can include delivery roles that contributed to proposal development activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to quickly build rapport and nurture strong and lasting relationships A proven ability to develop thesis’ around potential offerings and to test whether they’re able to gain market traction.Experience building trust within organizations with long decision cycles and complex stakeholder ecosystemsPrior experience working with technical teams with the ability to understand, synthesize, and communicate technical information and requirements Demonstrated success achieving sales objectives and driving accurate forecasting of client and partner business Strong presentation and organizational skills; ability to tailor communication style and approach depending on the audienceA drive to address the challenges individuals experience as they access essential services, to decrease inequities in service delivery, and to improve trust in government; And the ability to tie specific nuanced technical solutions towards those societal goals.
