The Global Aviation business unit at AECOM is currently seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Director of Director of Major Projects & Pursuits, providing executive-level leadership and strategic direction. This key position is designed to develop market share and build top-line revenue for AECOM. In addition to leading the initiatives that drive response, this role requires extensive relationship-building skills and strategies that work both within and beyond the Business Line, including developing relationships with leaders that span the geographies and business lines. The Executive Director is a critical executive leadership role with the ability to attract projects and people to AECOM. The Director of Director of Major Projects & Pursuits will report to the Senior Vice President, Global Aviation and be a member of the Global Aviation team within AECOMs Transporation Global Business Line.All major US locations will be considered.ResponsibilitiesServe in this key senior leadership role leading AECOMs overall aviation business growth and execution.Partner with Client Account Managers (CAMs), Marketing and Capture Managers to close new business, drive our sales process, prepare and facilitate presentations, RFQ, RFP, and highly complex proposal responses, including contributing input to commercial proposals.Working closely and in concert with Global and Regional market leaders to:Drive the growth of major pursuits across the operations.Promote teamwork, maintain positive morale, and instill a creative culture within the practiceCollaborate and develop an integrated approach across all business linesDevelop the practice by taking the lead on strategies, major proposals, and interviewsUnderstand capability gaps, identify key hires, and help build a multi-disciplinary teamContribute as a leader to the technical practice networkServe as an ambassador for the broader AECOM business working across all operating groups.Develop and execute strategies to achieve aviation sector business goals and objectivesDevelop and manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clientsOversee the management of teams and ensure that they are adequately resourced and equipped to deliver high-quality workCollaborate with business development staff to identify new business opportunities and develop strategies and proposals to secure new projctsManage and grow the global aviation opportunities pipelineBuild and maintain relationships with aviation clients, stakeholders, and partnersDevelop and mentor project leaders and staff.Contribute to the development of our strategic growth plan.Lead a team of experienced and emerging professionals globally with responsibilities for people management, project management and business development.Work collaboratively with other aviation practice leads to present the broad range of combined resources and capabilities to our airport clients.Work collaboratively with other Transportation Markets and Global Business Lines (Building & Places, Environmental, Water, Construction) to broaden our service offerings and expand our market reach.Retain and manage relationships with existing clients and external colleagues and stakeholders.Provide thought leadership internally and externallyQualificationsCapture manager on major pursuits ($10 million gross margin / gross revenue $50 million) for the last 5 yearsMust possess the ability to work multiple markets or business linesMust have the ability to work collaboratively with various market leaders and regional executives in a matrix organizationMust have the ability to develop and execute winning strategies for mega projects and programsDevelop strategic initiatives in emerging marketsMust have the ability and desire to work with and mentor key employees helping them build their careersNeeds extreme flexibility to travelMust be active in associations within the various engineering marketsMust have good strategic writing and communication skillsMust possess a strong working knowledge of the aviation sector and the technical and strategic drivers that create the need for major programsRecognized as a leader in aviation industry.Able to demonstrate an extensive industry-wide network and is well known for having successfully shaped, led or transformed multiple large or very large aviation programs.Proven track record of successful business developmentExperience leading and managing high-performing teamsExcellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholdersExemplary leadership attributes that provide role modelling for others.Has built diverse and inclusive teams to enable collective success through trust, psychological safety, autonomy, accountability and alignment.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration or a related field.Professional Engineering LicenseAdditional InformationDue to the flexible location for this opening, relocation is not being offered for this role.Sponsorship for US Employment Authorization, now or in the future, is not being offered for this position.Offered rate of compensation (CA locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
