Director of Software Engineering, Marketplace

We seek a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Marketplace team at Madhive. They will work directly with senior leaders in engineering and product to deliver Madhive’s products. The Marketplace team is responsible for our real-time bidder and machine learning efforts. It’s a critical function that powers Madhive’s success. Key priorities are ensuring the RTB system runs as optimally as possible and scaling effectively. Keeping our machine learning models updated and identifying new opportunities to leverage ML in our decisioning and features is critical. You will grow the team to enable the highest reliability, performance, and operational excellence levels. You’ll work closely with other Madhive leaders to develop strategy and mentor leaders on the team.
This role reports to the VP of Engineering.
What you’ll do:

Develop and evolve the strategic and technical direction for all decisioning and ML at Madhive.
Lead the organization to hire, coach, manage, and support a team of engineering leaders in management and technical contributor roles.
Evaluate and manage vendor relationships, contracts, and work.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, humility, constant improvement, and rigor to build a team that can confidently tackle complex challenges across multiple technical domains.
Partner with compliance and infrastructure teams, reviewing designs, participating in and resolving issues, guiding discussions, and driving engineering investments.
Identify organizational staffing needs and work with recruiting to hire a diverse team to meet area needs.
Grow future leaders by serving as a mentor.

Who you are:

15 years of experience in engineering, including management experience leading engineering organizations.
Expertise with machine learning techniques.
Must have deep knowledge around distributed systems at a large scale.
Experience building and owning systems handling more than 1 million transactions per second.
Experience building and owning complex production-ready data pipelines and ML platforms.
Demonstrated success managing multiple teams and managers.
Ability to work effectively with deeply technical partners, business stakeholders, and operational teams to organize, influence, and align them toward the best product outcomes.

The approximate compensation range for this position is $233,000 – $315,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by several factors, including the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity among our team.
