Salary Range: $95,000.00 To 140,000.00 Annually Job DescriptionSPEC Services is expanding our engineering services to our energy utilities, midstream, renewable energy, and carbon sequestration clients in Northern California. We have excellent opportunities for experienced Pipeline Project Engineers to lead dynamic engineering and design teams on many diverse and challenging projects for gas utility and midstream transportation clients. SPEC provides engineering and design services for energy storage and transportation facilities in the Western United States. Responsibilities include the following:Orchestrate the execution of pipeline engineering and design projects, resulting in the successful completion of projects and the development of working relationships and continuing business with clients.Lead pipeline engineering and design teams in the development of project scope, budgets and schedules; preparation of proposals; preparation of feasibility studies and preliminary design reports; and the directing and management of multiple projects. Conduct the effective planning, efficient execution, and successful completion of projects, delivering the project on time and within the prescribed budget. Assist in staffing decisions regarding members of the project team, assigning the work, and assuring its successful and timely completion. Manage sub-consultants to assure adequate coordination between offices, and to manage their work product. Act as a capable leader and a positive representative in dealing with the client and in directing and expediting the work. Ensure expected results, specifically: excellence in quality of work performed, client communication and satisfaction, efficient staff utilization, client satisfaction for ongoing client referrals, as well as excellence of office reputation, contract management, billing collection and project profitability. The Project Manager is also responsible for assisting in the development of personnel through effective work assignments on the projects, and through appropriate coaching and mentoring.Job Requirements4 years of pipeline engineering experience is required. Gas utility experience in California is strongly preferred.B.S. Degree in engineering or related field is required.Candidate must have strong Familiarity with DOT 192 and ASME B31.8.Candidate must have strong familiarity and direct experience with pipeline repair methods.Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering capability) is preferred.Professional Engineering license is preferred. Project Management certification is preferred. (PD1)  Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with team members in both verbal and written form.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including basic macros and PivotTables, is preferred.Familiarity with permitting projects in municipalities is preferred.Familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.Pipeline construction and field experience is preferred.Local candidates are preferred.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.Location and Work ScheduleApplicant must be within the Greater Bay area and able to commute to Walnut Creek in order to provide on-call support and communication with clients in the region. The position has a flexible 9/80 work schedule with a remote work location. Work will be primarily in Northern California, with approximately 10% travel to client project sites and to the corporate office in Southern California.
