Head of Properties

The Head of Properties works under the jurisdiction of IATSE Local 15. The Seattle Opera’s season is generally in operation from July – June. The Head of Props is a department head position, responsible to the Director of Production, and falls under the purview of the Master Stage Carpenter.Major Responsibilities include: Supervision and Staffing, Properties Management, and Administrative duties. Requirements PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS• Five or more years of professional work experience in a shop/theatre environment as a seniorbuilder• Supervisory experience• Enjoy collaborating with designers, directors, department heads, stage management, technicalmanagement, and performers.• Comprehensive knowledge of theatrical building practices in soft goods, paper, wood, metal,traditional and new materials.• Problem solver• Creative thinker• Work well in a team environment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSI.A.T.S.E.
