Pen Rider – Cattle Processor – Cattle Doctor

Welcome to Smith Cattle Co! We are hiring a Pen Rider, Cattle Processor, and Cattle Doctor. Depending on your experience and what you would like to do you will be riding pens overseeing and treating livestock, processing cattle, and maintaining animal records and/or overseeing the animal med room. If you enjoy being around and taking care of cattle, this is the position for you. We are a large cattle feedlot and provide cattle transportation while farming and hauling hay and grain. We are located in Lewisville, Idaho which is about 20 minutes north of Idaho Falls. We are always looking for ways to improve ourselves and our company. What you will be doing: Riding pens (Pen Rider), overseeing livestock and management of overall cattle/herd health. Processing (Cattle Processor) incoming cattle, cattle distribution to pens, preparing outgoing cattle pens for trucking. Medically treat livestock (Cattle Doctor) in sick pens according to established treatment protocols. Record treatments and track by animal in computer tracking system for withdraw dates, etc. Maintain Animal Med Room for Inventory of medicines. Maintain hospital pens, cleaning, water, and inventory of animals. Assist Pen Riders as needed. Assist Incoming Processors as needed. Assist Feeders as needed. This job is for you if you: Have pen riding and/or farm/ranch experience. Experience handling livestock, cattle, and treating sick animals. Have good computer skills. Own a horse (can have up to two; feed and shoeing is paid for). Are able to understand and execute directions. Consider yourself to be a team player. Maintain company cattle health protocols. .
