The Sobrato Organization is expanding, and we are interested in growing our staff to include diverse voices with different lived experiences.Position Overview:The Investment Associate’s primary responsibility will be to assist with the sourcing, diligence, structuring, and management of impact investment opportunities across Sobrato Capital’s growing portfolio. Doubling over the past two years, the portfolio of impact investments is anticipated to continue to grow from its current base of nearly $400M, and will remain highly diversified across impact areas, geographies, return profiles (PRIs and MRIs), and asset classes. The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable working as a generalist across investments in climate tech, financial inclusion, affordable housing, workforce development, and more; across direct private debt and equity investments, venture, buyout, opportunistic credit funds, and public equities, and on investments in the US and emerging markets. While this individual will have a concentrated focus within impact investing, they will be a critical member of our small investment team with a voice in all of our investment activities across a total $6 billion portfolio. In addition, the Investment Associate will represent the organization at meetings and build a network within the investment community.Key Responsibilities include:Working closely with the Managing Director of Impact Investments in monitoring and analyzing the existing portfolio of diversified investments, including ongoing financial and impact measurement and reporting, building relationships with company leadership and general partners, and attending annual meetings and other key events across the portfolio.Assisting in the preparation of strategic analyses across different asset classes and researching broad investment and impact trends.Sourcing new opportunities for potential portfolio fit, maintaining dealflow pipeline tracking tools.Performing due diligence on prospective investments by evaluating strategy, analyzing performance, conducting references, and preparing due diligence overview reports.Contributing to structuring and negotiation of new investment opportunities.Supporting the Managing Director with the preparation of dashboards and topical updates for our governance board and investment committees.Experience and Requirements:2-5 years of impact investment experienceDemonstrated quantitative skills in private investment analysisDeep knowledge of Excel and the ability to develop and manipulate complex financial modelsProven orientation to detail and excellent organization skillsTeam-oriented and organized, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and to deliver results in a collaborative and fast-moving culture.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Intellectually curious self-starter with a strong aptitude for qualitative and quantitative analysis.Strong desire to support the work of a mission-driven organizationHigh degree of professionalism, integrity and maturity.
