Principal Scientist-Cosmetics–Los Angeles

Tanner and Associates is recruiting a Principle Formulation Scientist to supervise a team of scientists for a major consumer products company in Los Angeles. Description Candidate will be responsible to:– Develop novel skin care product formulations to meet specified market/consumer needs– Supervise/guide scientists and technicians– Possess expertise in skin care and sun care product development– Coordinate all technical and market qualification activities of new product launches– Meet long-term and short-term timelines– Demonstrate critical thinking skills to synthesize data and provide business relevant recommendations– Evaluate and champion new ingredients/technologies– Assist marketing in technical learning and ingredient function Qualifications Required:– BS, MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field– Minimum of 7 years of consumer cosmetic industry experience– Extensive formulation experience in developing cosmetic skin care products– Experience in developing facial moisturizer treatments and suncare products– Thorough understanding of the scientific principles of formulation, ingredient chemistry and industry trends– Excellent project management skills– Excellent written and verbal communication skills– Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, colleagues and in teams– Leadership ability to train and guide othersPreferred:– Familiarity with current regulatory requirements in the skincare industry (OTC and non-OTC)– Be comfortable with complexity and ambiguity
