Foster City, CA • Full-time Principal Software Engineer – SLAM Our Calibration, Localization, and Mapping (CLAMS) team is responsible for building the algorithms and tools necessary for keeping Zoox vehicles well calibrated, always knowing where they’re located within the world, and aware of their environment. Without precise calibration, localization, and mapping our vehicles would be at a disadvantage when it comes to perceiving and reasoning about the surrounding world, and is therefore foundational in enabling results from many other teams across Zoox.Together with the team, you will advance state of the art SLAM technology, ship systems to production, and help enable Zoox to scale our product safely and reliably. We are looking for an expert in the field to provide broad technical leadership across the entire org and execute innovative solutions utilizing deep domain expertise. In this role, you will:Act as a technical leader for the entire CLAMS organization, contributing across all team verticalsHelp us build state-of-the-art mapping pipelines that combine data from a wide variety of sensorsDevelop localization algorithms that make use ofthese maps in real timeQualificationsFluency in C++Experiencewith pose estimation, SLAM, probabilistic filtering, and 3D dataExtensive experience with programming and algorithm designExperience handling large data sets efficiently10+ years of experience in a related fieldBonus QualificationsExperience with autonomous robotsExperience with realtime sensor fusion (e.g. IMU, LiDAR, camera, odometry, radar)Knowledge of computer vision techniques and machine learning Compensation There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary will range from$254,000to $451,000. A sign-on bonus may be part of a compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
