Senior Business Risk Officer – SOX – $140-170K Plus 25% Bonus & 10% Profit SharingTHIS IS NOT ONE OF THE BIG/MAIN WASHINGTON, DC BANKS!The position also comes with a 10% of your salary, profit sharing program on top of the annual cash bonus for the Senior Officer Level. There are unlimited PTO days (expected to take roughly 4 weeks annually at minimum) and culture that is friendly, and extremely collaborative “door is always open” mentality and top notch Work/Life Balance and very little travel.As for the specific work, this is a great opportunity for an individual who has a background in risk and controls, particularly with Sarbanes Oxley experience, to establish a control environment for the first lines of defense Loan Administration business unit that supports SOX and regulatory requirements. The Senior Business Risk Officer – SOX will leverage their expertise to support management with controls related activities. The Senior Business Risk Officer – SOX will represent Loan Administration as the key interface with other risk programs at the bank, and with internal and external auditors.Specific responsibilities include:Develop a new control framework in Loan Administration and partner with 2nd line Credit Administration to transition controls to the 1st Lines of DefenseInterfaces with credit risk managers and senior credit officers to perform risks assessments and identify key risksCollaborates with control owners to design controls that are efficient and address SOX and other control requirementsPerforms control activities to mitigate key risks, where neededDevelops cadence on program activities such as risk assessment, SOX walkthroughs with auditors, control execution and quarterly coordination of controls testingCoordinates, update and maintain all SOX related artifacts including narratives, risk control matrices and process/control specific flow charts to ensure they are current and reflect business practicesLeads walkthroughs and prepare process / control owners to present their process and controls effectively with the SOX Office and internal, external auditors and other compliance groupsAssesses control issues and partner with business owners to help articulate the root cause, analyze the actual and potential impact, develop correction plans, and conclude on final assessment.Prepares deficiency evaluations and SAB 108 accounting memos, where neededInterfaces with second line Credit Administration and other constituents involved in the CECL control environment to provide updates on control development and executionProposes changes to processes and controls to address the Bank’s dynamic growth, where new or complex risks are introduced and need to be mitigatedSupports training and competence activities for colleagues within Loan Administration.Supports management in delivering and embedding good risk culture.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in management, finance, economics, related field or equivalent experienceExperience with internal controls including process control design, preparation of flowcharts & control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification and reporting of control “gaps” required7+ years working in the financial services industryExperience in SOX, risks, business controls or compliance management preferredProgressive experience in a combination of public and/or internal audit experience with a background in financial services is highly desirable.Large Financial Institution experience is a plus, but not required.Additional Qualifications:Ability to independently manage complex tasksStrong SOX technical skillsStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to influence, negotiate, and persuade peers, colleagues and managers across business and divisional lines to deliver on complex, technical or sensitive topics with companywide impactSelf-starter who proactively will reach out as neededAbility to work tight timelines and manage multiple competing priorities while delivering sound resultsShould you have interest in learning more, please click “Apply Now” or reach out via email to jjansen@accsurance.com and attach your current resume.
