The team is responsible for all of IRC’s brand, communications, creative and content and digital engagement efforts.Digital Engagement (part of Marketing & Mobilization) leads efforts to increase IRC’s access to priority online audiences, attracting new supporters, and sharing a coordinated digital supporter experience. These elements are designed with the strategy of inspiring audiences to give more, do more, and stay longer with the IRC. Digital professionals include communications specialists, content creators, digital campaigners, and analysts. This department will develop a team of social media and web strategists and work across all functions in M&M. They deliver to the US, UK, Sweden, Germany, Brussels, South Korea, and other global markets.JOB OVERVIEW:The Senior Director of Digital Engagement will report to the Chief Marketing and Mobilization Officer and work across IRC, most closely with the External Relations Department. They will sit alongside and collaborate with Creative & Content Studio, Experiential Marketing, Global Public Affairs, Brand, and more. They will lead and implement the global Digital Engagement and Marketing & Mobilization Strategy across IRC for its supporters and donors. They will run global digital engagement teams including web and social channels, and will work in an integrated fashion with fundraisers and policy and advocacy teams. Digital Engagement is a service function to fundraisers, corporate partnership teams, but also a leader in the space for award winning digital campaigns and more. At the heart of these operations will be a showcasing our brand, mission, and sector. Client centered storytelling and communications lead how we talk about our work and our clients. This team is a “test, learn, and optimize” environment that is driven by strategy and data based decision making. The Senior Director will function as a strategic partner with the Senior Director of Digital Acquisition, Mass Markets to implement digital skill-sharing, team development initiatives and shared learning programs to create an interactive, supportive, and high-functioning international digital team. You will provide dynamic leadership and critical thinking to creative and market specific operations; deliver rapid growth in supporter-based revenue, brand reach, and audience engagement across IRC’s digital presence. It is expected that this individual will develop an effective online audience experience which results in people donating, taking action and engaging with IRC’s work and mission. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:- Setting the global digital engagement strategy for IRC as part of the Marketing and Mobilization team’s strategy.- Provide digital marketing and communications leadership to a distributed team of digital specialists, drive the digital strategy of our online organic web and social channels, and work with colleagues across the organization to continuously improve our digital presence and expand the IRC’s reach.- Operate cross-functionality in partnership with Senior Director of Digital Acquisition, Mass Markets to seek new opportunities to expand reach online (including but not limited to innovations in Web 3.0, social media and Artificial Intelligence).- Continually test and iterate new tactics to improve online engagement, advocacy and fundraising across organic social and web channels- Adjust campaigns based on target audience criteria to reach goals- Collaborate on leading developmental, integrated campaigns that are coordinated across multiple External Relation teams and objectives.- Work closely with Marketing and Analytics teams to continually monitor results across organic social and web channels and adjust approaches to optimize revenue and reach- Working with the Marketing/Communications and Brand teams ensuring IRC is delivering strong content with measurable outcomes and testing strategies to improve performance- Provide strategic support for digital communications planning and resourcing across the organization- Develop investment proposals for the Digital Engagement team to fund new roles, activity and tactics to help the organization expand its reach and revenue via organic digital channels.- Support and deliver the frameworks and ways of working that create the best support for high quality continual creative and digital innovation- Partner with Senior Director of Digital Acquisition, Mass Markets to develop strong SEO strategies for our websites which expand the organization’s reach potential- Lead all aspects of recruitment of digital content for organic web and social channels; and partner with Senior Director of Digital Acquisition, Mass Markets to support integration across paid, owned, and shared digital touchpoints- Provide clear metrics and returns to build strong growth investment caseJOB REQUIREMENTS:- 12+ years of experience in the digital field- Significant experience leading digital engagement teams and leading a global digital team across multiple countries- Significant experience in website and social media channel strategy and execution.- Significant work experience in modern, high-performance digital supporter engagement, with proven record of growth.- An effective and collaborative communications leader with demonstrable experience in working across multiple departments. Strong resilience and organizational change skills – with experience of leading a rapid growth program, and the challenges that come with rapid growth- A strong understanding of global cultural context and the humanitarian sector. Being on top of the international news cycle is a requirement.- Understanding international fundraising and communications marketplace- Experience in digital marketing or engagement in the following areas: Website strategy (including mobile) SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION Conversion rate optimization Gaming Digital creative development Digital creative testing strategies Analytics set-up and monitoring Search and display marketing Social Media Marketing Web 3.0 and AI (desirable)- Ability to identify unmet market needs and create/implement digital marketing strategies- Validated ability using analytics to inform and influence decision-making- Creates and owns business metrics and goals to resolve what will move the needle- Meticulous and critical thinker, able to ask probing clear questions and drive toward solutions quickly- Strong interpersonal skills, collegial and collaborative, high energy, good humored and creative leader- Excellent written and verbal communicationWORKING ENVIRONMENT:This role will be based in New York or Washington DC, but will need to accommodate multiple time zones given our Global IRC community and will be in a hybrid environment with the option of remote work a few days a week.
