Position Summary:The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders: this includes assessment and treatment of language, articulation, voice, pragmatic language, fluency and executive functioning. Based on interest and experience, this may also include evaluation and treatment of feeding and swallowing disorders. The SLP will complete screenings and evaluations, write appropriate treatment plans and formulate functional goals to help the client and their family achieve their goals.Essential Functions:Prepare and implement treatment plans for pediatric clients, from birth to age 18Create client specific goals focused on effective communication, utilizing verbal and non-verbal communication skillsPrepare and complete detailed documentation and records of evaluations and treatmentsProvide support and guidance to the clients’ family enabling them to foster the behaviors and practices implemented in treatmentBased on interest and specialty, may assess, diagnose, treat feeding and swallowing disorders in childrenServe as a CF Supervisor once every two yearsRequired Education, Experience and Credentials:Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited programPass the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language PathologyCompletion of your Clinical Fellowship YearSLP licensure or license eligible, in the state of IllinoisCPR certification required within 90 days of hireKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Passion for working with neurodiverse pediatric populationCompetence with a variety of computer applicationsCompetence with Central ReachPersonal Attributes:Interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative spirit and willingness to work as a teamCreative mindset for making therapy funProcess oriented with strong attention to detailAccountabilityProblem SolvingInitiativeWork Environment & Physical DemandsAbility to receive training in, and implement, de-escalation skills for clientsAbility to lift or carry 30 lbs unassistedAbility to work in a variety of active positions, including on the floor during played-based therapyTravel RequirementsSome travel within assigned region for training, meetings and supporting client coverage needs.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
