Financial institutions need to have a comprehensive risk appetite framework in place that helps them better understand and manage their risks by translating risk metrics and methods into strategic decisions, reporting, and day-to-day business decisions. Risk appetite is considerably more than a sophisticated key performance indicator (KPI) system for risk management. It’s the core instrument for better aligning overall corporate strategy, capital allocation, and risk. A comprehensive risk appetite framework is the cornerstone of a new risk management architecture.This role requires an individual with at least 10 years of credit risk management experience, strong statistical and data analysis skills, technical SAS skills, an ability to derive analytical solutions based on business knowledge and objective judgment of the balance between risk and reward.  A successful candidate would demonstrate an ability to leverage credit risk data and business acumen to observe key trends / threats / inaccuracies; drivers of those observations; and communicate those observations to ensure consistency and compliance with global credit policies. It is critical to demonstrate the ability to manage initiatives across cross-functional units in a matrix organization.Responsibilities:Identify key risks, develop risk tolerance metrics and thresholds that could compromise risk appetite of the bank, monitor them monthlyDevelop and monitor risk tolerance metrics, perform in-depth analysis on cards portfolio performance and present key findings and recommendations to managementProvide the Business with indications of credit quality and deploy appropriate benchmarks across the credit life cycleProvide analytical assessment linking credit risk/portfolio performance with Capital consumptionLeverage values-based interpretation of RWA output with in-depth understanding of Basel model dynamics and metrics (PD, LGD, EAD, etc.)Prepare executive presentations as part of Regulatory decks and senior management committeesContribute to the analysis and preparation of reports including but not limited to: portfolio concentrations, limit exceptions, stress testing, loss reserves or high-risk exposures.Conduct process reviews to ensure Reporting processes are efficient and lean.Train new team members in standard methodologies and tools.Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.Act as Risk Appetite SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.Qualifications:10+ years of financial services experience in analytic role is required. Private Label Credit experience preferred.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering. Master’s degree preferredProficient SAS/SQL programming skills and advanced spreadsheet skills.Experience leading/mentoring junior analysts and/or contractors preferred.Knowledge and experience using statistical procedures, segmentation, and financial analytic tools is a differentialUnderstanding of consumer credit risk management and Credit Card Profit & Loss Drivers preferred.Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking ability and an ability to learn and apply new skills quickly.Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.Leadership CompetenciesCapability and experience to drive changes in order to achieve business targetsSenior executive interactions – can present credibly to both large and small groupsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of management with effective stakeholder managementDisplays flexibility to work well with varying personal stylesTakes personal responsibility to lead by example.
