Summary/Objective
Reporting to the Managing Partner of the Tax department, the Tax Director is responsible for all aspects of tax compliance within the department, mentorship of the Tax Management team, and fostering a department of accountability through motivational leadership.
Essential Functions
Develop and meet annual department goalsWork directly with Managing partner on yearly revenue and salary budgets for the departmentProvide oversight and mentorship the Sr. Tax ManagersPartner with human resources on employee relation issues/concerns
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide tax consultations as needed for client consultsServes as the department interface between the Tax and Planning departmentsPartner with the Tax Managers and Sr. Research Manager to ensure clear department-wide application of tax law interpretationsFacilitate regular meetings with the Tax Managers regarding progress towards departmental goalsMeet with the Executive Leadership team on a quarterly basis to provide departmental updates and feedbackCreate a culture of accountability through soliciting department and firm-wide feedbackProvide monthly updates to the Partner Group and Finance monthly on yearly budget revenue and salary goalsPerform Audit Defense for returns CWA preparedManage the process of responding to Tax noticesResearching new Technology and processes to keep the department excelling and successfulExercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Foster open, proactive communication with other departments to ensure that Tax is providing the service they expectDemonstrate broad expertise or unique knowledge and skill set to contribute to development of firm-wide objectives and principles to achieve goals in effective ways

No travel is expected in this role.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management’s approval.
