This Privacy Policy explains how Empregara ("we", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information about candidates and employers, and the choices and rights available to you. It applies to our website, any apps, and related services (the "Services").
1) Controller and contact
Empregara is the controller of personal information processed through the Services. For privacy requests (access, correction, deletion, objection, portability, etc.), contact contact@empregara.com or use the export/delete options available in your profile.
2) Information we collect
- Account information: name, email, account type (candidate/employer), password (stored securely), and verification status.
- Candidate profile: city/state, role preferences, experience, education, skills, links, resume (file), and other details you provide.
- Company information: company name, email, website, description, logo, posted jobs, and verification status.
- Usage and logs: IP address, user agent, pages visited, timestamps, error events, and audit logs (who, what, when).
- Application data: information submitted when applying to jobs (phone, message, resume) and submission metadata.
- Communications: transactional email preferences and content (e.g., application confirmations) and technical delivery records.
- Cookies/technologies: necessary, security, and performance-related technologies (e.g., CAPTCHA) as described below.
3) How we use information
- Provide and operate the Services: create and manage accounts, profiles, job postings, applications, and dashboards.
- Security and abuse prevention: detect spam/fraud, enforce rate limits, maintain error and audit logs, and protect the Service.
- Transactional communications: send application-related and operational emails.
- Compliance: respond to lawful requests and comply with retention obligations.

- Employers: candidates voluntarily share application information with the employer posting the job.

- Business transfers: in connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales, as permitted by law.
5) International transfers
When transferring data outside your jurisdiction, we apply appropriate safeguards and work with providers offering adequate protection under applicable law.
6) Retention
- We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by law.
- Accounts with unverified email may be automatically removed after a reasonable period.
- Error and audit logs are kept for security/compliance windows and may be periodically pruned.
- Resumes and attachments are kept while an application remains active and for any applicable legal periods.
7) Your choices and rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your information through profile tools or by emailing contact@empregara.com. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under state laws (e.g., California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah), such as the right to know, delete, correct, limit certain uses of sensitive data, or opt out of targeted advertising or certain disclosures. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by California law.
8) Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards (password hashing, access controls, logging/monitoring). No system is 100% secure—keep your credentials confidential.
9) Cookies and similar technologies
We use technologies that are necessary for functionality and security (e.g., CAPTCHA) and to improve the Service. Where required, we seek your consent.
