The Building Porter helps keep a residential or commercial property in clean, orderly, and safe condition throughout the workday. Common responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, collecting trash and recyclables, wiping down common areas, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors. Depending on the property, the role may also involve assisting with minor set-up tasks, helping move light materials, and keeping entrances, hallways, and shared spaces presentable for tenants, visitors, and staff. Candidates should be dependable, able to follow directions, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Basic knowledge of cleaning tools and products is useful, and prior porter, janitorial, or housekeeping experience is preferred but not required. Physical demands typically include standing for long periods, walking stairs, bending, lifting moderate items, and performing repetitive cleaning tasks. The schedule is full time and may include daytime hours, early starts, or weekend shifts based on building needs.
