Job Description:Modernist Cuisine Gallery is seeking a Gallery Director to lead its flagship New York gallery in the Zebra Building, West Chelsea, representing the fine art photography of Nathan Myhrvold. This client-facing leadership role combines sales, collector development, and gallery operations, shaping the gallery's identity, program, and daily practice as it establishes itself as a destination within New York's art community. Reports to the Director of Operations.Key Responsibilities:• Lead day-to-day gallery operations, including sales systems, inventory, and installations.• The gallery's long-term vision, positioning, and collector strategy.• Build and maintain collector relationships through outreach, private appointments, and personalized service.• Cultivate new collectors and develop relationships with art advisors, designers, architects, and other partners.• Oversee events and installations in coordination with building and hospitality partners.• Train and manage art gallery staff.• Drive sales performance against monthly and annual goals.What we are looking for:• 5+ years in the New York gallery market, including sales, collector development, or a related client-facing role.• Experience launching, establishing, or growing a gallery, showroom, or similar creative business preferred.• Established network within New York's art community; design, architecture, or hospitality connections a plus.• Excellent sales, relationship-management, and client development skills, with the ability to build trust with collectors and high-touch clients.• Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to help build and establish a new flagship location.• Strong project-management skills and the ability to lead both long-term initiatives and daily execution.• Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, client-facing environment.• Experience with events, private client experiences, or other high-touch hospitality environments preferred.• Demonstrated passion for fine art, photography, and collector engagement.• Experience using CRM, gallery management, or sales pipeline systems.• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
