Position Summary

Irish Repertory Theatre seeks an experienced, organized, collaborative marketing professional to serve as Assistant Director of Marketing — the Director's primary operational partner in implementing strategy across productions, institutional initiatives, fundraising, audience development, and earned revenue.

The Director sets strategy, creative direction, and priorities; the Assistant Director translates those priorities into coordinated campaigns, systems, and results — coordinating the department's work, guiding junior staff, and maintaining strong communication across departments and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Management an Digital Marketing

Develop and manage campaign plans, timelines, budgets, and approvals across email, digital advertising, social media, print, publicity, partnerships, and outreach
Maintain cross-departmental marketing initiatives, ensuring consistent coordination and follow-through
Coordinate Marketing priorities and workflows with Artistic, Development, Box Office, Front of House, and General Management
Monitor ticket sales and campaign performance; share insights and recommend adjustments
Maintain the departmental campaign calendar
Coordinate paid media, email, SEO, and analytics; serve as key liaison to Capacity Interactive and other digital partners
Build dashboards, define KPIs, and create reports for departmental decision-making
Support audience segmentation, CRM strategy, automated journeys, and campaign testing
Strengthen departmental workflows, documentation, project tracking, and automation

Website and Digital Platforms

Maintain website content in Craft CMS, ensuring production, program, pricing, event, and institutional information stays accurate
Coordinate content and update requests across Marketing, Artistic, Development, and Box Office
Work with developers on routine improvements, troubleshooting, and enhancements
Identify opportunities to improve audience journeys, accessibility, usability, and conversion
Test updates, links, forms, tracking, and ticketing integrations before launch
Monitor performance and audience behavior to inform improvements
Maintain documentation of website processes and platform integrations

Social Media

Develop and execute social media strategy and content calendars across platforms
Plan and manage scheduling and day-to-day posting
Help grow and engage Irish Rep's audience and presence across platforms, identifying opportunities on emerging or underused channels
Produce light graphic design assets as needed (e.g., social graphics, promotional materials)
Capture photos and video at productions and events, and perform basic video editing for social and marketing content
Coordinate with the Marketing & Design Associate on content production and creative assets
Monitor performance and engagement, using analytics to refine strategy
Stay current on platform trends and best practices

Email Marketing

Lead planning, scheduling, production, testing, and deployment of email campaigns
Develop calendars, audience segments, messaging priorities, personalization, and automated journeys
Review emails for accuracy and strategic alignment before deployment
Coordinate with the Marketing & Design Associate on design, production, and QA
Monitor performance and recommend improvements

Publicity and Press

Coordinate production publicity timelines in tandem withalongside the Director
Serve as a Marketing contact for Irish Rep's external press team
Coordinate press materials, production info, images, approvals, interviews, and requests
Coordinate artist participation in interviews, photography, video, and promotional appearances
Maintain close communication with the Director on significant press opportunities and matters requiring review

GreenSeats and Audience Development

Co-manage GreenSeats with the Development team — Irish Rep's audience-development program offering $25 tickets and dedicated events for theatergoers under 40
Coordinate performance dates, event concepts, member communications, website updates, and logistics across Marketing, Artistic, Box Office, Development, and Front of House
Establish clear workflows, responsibilities, and communication channels
Manage the Ambassador Program — recruitment, engagement, activation
Attend and help run GreenSeats and related audience-development events
Track participation, sales, and engagement; identify opportunities to strengthen retention with younger audiences
Coordinate other assigned audience-development initiatives

Institutional and Earned-Revenue Initiatives

Coordinate Marketing support for fundraising campaigns, membership initiatives, donor events, opening nights, and the Annual Gala
Support merchandise and retail initiatives, including researching and coordinating new opportunities
Coordinate Marketing activity for partnerships, group sales, and other earned-revenue opportunities
Work with Artistic staff on show descriptions, artist interviews, and other audience-facing content
Ensure cross-departmental Marketing projects have clear responsibilities, timelines, and expectations

Staff and External Partners

Help coordinate the Marketing & Design Associate's workload — email production, digital execution, timelines, systems
Set priorities, assign tasks, review progress, and provide feedback on designated areas of the Associate's work
Support the Associate's professional development
Help onboard future staff, freelancers, and interns
Manage designated freelancer, vendor, and agency relationships
Maintain regular two-way communication with the Director on campaign progress, capacity, staffing needs, and decisions requiring review

Qualifications

Required

Five+ years of marketing experience, including managing integrated campaigns and complex projects
Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform decisions
Experience with CRM systems, email marketing, digital advertising, social media strategy and content, and website management (including a CMS)
Excellent organizational and project-management skills
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write and edit clear, audience-facing copy
Comfort producing light graphic design assets and capturing/editing basic photo and video content as needed
Experience mentoring or coordinating junior staff, interns, freelancers, or project teams
Experience coordinating external agencies, consultants, vendors, or freelancers
Strong attention to detail and sound judgment on when to escalate
Willingness to become proficient in Spektrix, Dotdigital, and Craft CMS
This is a hands-on role with on-site presence at events; some evening and weekend work is required

Preferred

Experience in theatre, the arts, or another nonprofit/cultural organization
Prior experience with Spektrix, Dotdigital, or Craft CMS
Familiarity with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with GA4, Meta Business Suite, and Google Ads
Experience coordinating website work with developers or vendors
Experience with audience-development or access initiatives
Experience developing workflows, documentation, and departmental systems
Experience with merchandise, partnerships, or group sales
