A Caregiver provides day-to-day assistance that supports the comfort, safety, and routine needs of clients in a home or care setting. Common responsibilities include helping with personal care tasks, offering companionship, preparing simple meals, reminding clients about scheduled activities, and observing and reporting changes in condition or behavior. Depending on assignment, the position may also involve light housekeeping, laundry, mobility support, and assistance with getting to appointments or activities. Suitable candidates typically have prior caregiving or direct-support experience, good judgment, clear communication skills, and a patient, respectful manner. Basic knowledge of safe transfer techniques and maintaining client privacy is also valuable. The role can be physically active and may require standing, walking, bending, and assisting with light lifting or repositioning as appropriate for the assignment. Work schedules vary and may include mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, or rotating shifts based on client needs.
