The clerk also assists customers with selections, answers basic product questions, and completes transactions accurately when assigned to the register. Strong attention to food safety, proper handling procedures, and detail is important in this position. Candidates should be able to follow instructions, work efficiently during busy periods, and communicate politely with coworkers and customers. Prior deli, grocery, or food service experience is helpful, though on-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate. Physical demands may include standing for long periods, lifting moderate weights, and frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive hand motion. The schedule is full time and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
