A cleaner is responsible for maintaining orderly, sanitary spaces in a Bronx facility. Typical duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash, refilling supplies, and reporting maintenance concerns or safety hazards. The role requires consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to follow cleaning procedures and use custodial equipment properly. Basic qualifications generally include reliability, the ability to work independently, and comfort handling common cleaning products in accordance with safety instructions. Physical demands are customary for this work and may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting light to moderate items, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift. Previous janitorial or housekeeping experience can be helpful but is not always necessary. The schedule is usually based on operational needs and may include early morning, daytime, evening, or weekend hours. Compensation may be negotiated within the posted range based on relevant experience.
