Reports to: Senior Program Officer, NYFA Learning, Career Advice and Training

Status: Full-time permanent

Location: Hybrid (New York, NY)

Compensation and Benefits: $57,000

Position Objective:

NYFA Learning is seeking a Program Officer whose core focus will be managing our leadership initiatives, including the NYSCA/NYFA Community Arts Leaders TA workshops and The Incubator for Executive Leaders of Color (IELC), and the Emerging Leaders.

The Program Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing the programs. Responsibilities include outreach, managing the selection process, working with leadership coaches for program content and facilitation; engagement and communications with program participants, with the support of our facilitators recruiting presenters and panelists; in addition to payments, budget tracking, program evaluation and assessment for reporting as necessary.

The ideal candidate would be interested in exploring arts leadership programming; to co-exist alongside NYFA Learning’s online workshops, including learn-as-you-go options for artists and creatives. Learning began offering webinars and e-courses for arts administrators and part of this role will be to drive this audience development forward. They will also be working with the Director of NYFA Learning and NYFA’s leadership to strategize on the future programming to support arts leadership locally, nationally,and internationally. Additional programs and/or projects may be assigned.

This position will offer the potential to work on programming that can have an ongoing and future

impact within the arts and cultural sector at large. Candidates with a passion for Diversity, Equity,

The Program Officer also supports the NYFA Learning team with other initiatives serving artists and creators from all disciplines, for example: customized programs providing content for artists, creatives, and curators via intensives, workshops, working with institutional partnerships, and training programs.

Additionally, the Officer works with the Director and NYFA Learning team and consultants to assign responsibilities and duties for tasks and programs to ensure efficient and productive use of staff time while presenting quality programming within the department.

Essential Duties:

●   Manage Learning’s leadership initiatives, including program design in coordination with leadership coaches, outreach, implementation, program budget tracking, evaluation and reporting as required.

●   Facilitate, design, market, and implement related workshops and online/in-person programming.

●   Manage ongoing partnership relationships and establish new ones to support future programming.

● Manage communications and related activities with program participants, partners, presenters, and panelists.

● Some travel, weekends and evening meetings will be required.

Other (Marginal*) Duties:

● Other tasks and day-to-day operational support.

● Preparation of meeting spaces, including PA system, moving chairs, and temporary walls.

● Hospitality: purchasing and preparation for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

● At least two years of related experience.

● Background and interest in arts administration, leadership trends across the arts and other sectors, including DEIA values and principles.

● Proven track record of managing programming, from planning, implementation, and assessment.

● Strong writing, communication, proofreading, and editing skills.

● Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and collaboratively, with a small margin of error.

● Experience with Excel, Word, Google organization tools (docs/slides/forms, etc).

● Experience with online conferencing and webinar platforms, i.e. zoom.

● Experience with CRM databases, i.e. NEON, application and planning tools, i.e. submittable, asana, a plus.

● Interest and/or background in curatorial practices, and/or serving artists from all disciplines, is a plus.

● Foreign language skills and/or interest in translation and language access programming, is a plus.

Office Policy

NYFA is currently practicing a remote work environment where employees can work from home if they choose to, subject to their immediate supervisor’s approval. Employees may also choose to work in person at our office (located at 29 W. 38th Street, 9th floor NY. NY 10018). NYFA’s CEO and Board hold the right to revise the remote work model at any time.
